List Tag : Unordered List in HTML

Lists are used to group together related pieces of information so they are clearly associated with each other and easy to read. There are three list types in HTML :

  • Unordered List
  • Ordered List
  • Description List

Unordered List : The unordered list is used to group a set of related items in no particular order. The <ul> tag define Unordered List. The <ul> tag is a container tag in HTML and each list item starts with the <li> tag. The list items will be marked with bullets (small black circles). The Example of unordered list will be :

   <body>
 <h1>Web Technology</h1>
 <ul>
    <li>HTML</li>
    <li>CSS</li>
    <li>Javascript</li>
    <li>PHP</li>
    <li>Mysql</li>
 </ul>
   </body>
</html>



Attributes of <ul> Tag :  The <ul> tag consists type attribute which has three values disk, circle and square. The the type attribute defines the design of bullets, weather it is disk, circle or square in shape. The default value of disk is "disk".

Another example of unordered list :

<html>
   <body>
   <ul type="disk">
  <li>Disk Bullet</li>
  <li>Disk Bullet</li>
   </ul>
 
   <ul type="circle">
  <li>Circle Bullet</li>
  <li>Circle Bullet</li>
   </ul>
 
   <ul type="square">
  <li>Square Bullet</li>
  <li>Square Bullet</li>
   </ul>
   </body>
</html>
