Setting-Up MySQL Lab/Development Environment

In Windows based System :

To setup MySQL lab in windows, first we need to install XAMPP software stack. XAMPP stands for [X]Cross Platform, Apache, Mysql, Php, Perl. It is a software package which contains all programs and executable files to create a local Web Server with mysql and php.  You can download XAMPP software package from here : Link

Now to start MySQL interpreter, run the XAMPP control panel and click on start buttons of Apache and MySQL.

After that click on the shell button on right side of the panel.

And then type the below command :
 mysql -u root

Now you are logged in to the MySQL interpreter and from here you can run all the MySQL command and interact with databases.

The above command "how databases;" used to list all the databases.

In Linux/Unix Based System :

To setup MySQL lab in Linux, we have to install LAMP stack on the system. LAMP stack is a popular open source web platform which is used to run dynamic web sites and servers. It includes Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP.

To start MySQL interpreter in linux, just start a terminal and type the below command to login to the MySQL Database system :
 mysql -u root -p<your_mysql_password>
Now you can run the MySQL commands at MySQL interpreter console.
